Christmastide 3, Epiphany

Sunday, January 5 and Monday, January 6

As we tip toward the day of Epiphany (January 6), which begins the season of Epiphany (until Ash Wednesday), we continue the exploration of who Christ is.  The word epiphany in our day usually indicates a “eureka” moment, a revealing, an enlightening, often surprising and sudden.  Similarly, the season of Epiphany is when we celebrate Christ revealed to the world.  The day of Epiphany celebrates the wise men’s visit, in the shadow of Herod’s killing of the children.  The season of Epiphany also celebrates Christ as the Light of the World, which we will explore in a return to some poetic verses of Isaiah.  Enjoy these last few days of the Christmas season, and notice what of Christmas you want to carry with you into the next days and weeks, as Christ continues to be revealed in our lives and in our world.
